InternetBay is a sales and marketing organization within the ICT sector, owned and managed by its members.

The History of InternetBay 

InternetBay was founded in 1999 with the expressed purpose to support the growth in the IT industry in northern Sweden. During the first couple of years the organization took its shape. From having a very broad scope of practice in the beginning, InternetBay developed more towards becoming an organization focused on supporting sales and marketing processes  in the IT companies. During the first 10 years the operation has developed alot and InternetBay is today a succesful partner for the IT industry an contributes in a concrete way to business growth, increased business deals and increased market knowledge for IT companies in all of Sweden and parts of Finland. 

Our business concept is to facilitate business by increasing contacts between the InternetBay members and their customers in order to identify business opportunities and product ideas, and to promote the region through its brand name, thus increasing its members’ revenue.

InternetBay long term strategy   2011 – 2015

  The key strategy is to be an organization that includes a cutting edge use of the internet that produces such activities and products that spur marketing and sales for ICT companies.  These activities will bring the companies and the society so much value so they will be satisfied with InternetBay’s performance. We shall continue to focus on supporting sales and marketing processes amongst IT-companies. We shall also continue to build our organisation on our proved values, which has been the key to our success so far. The belief in making business creating activities which gives companies concrete business opportunities and networking is a key to the future for our IT industry. The strategy includes strategic activities which address both national as well as international business and growth for our stakeholders, it also includes strategies for organizational development but the focus is, but not limited to, on how to bring more business to those we are here for, the IT industry in the the Nordic countries.

The main strategy includes:

- Continue to produce and develop business creating activities such as InternetBay Business Events on national and international level.

- Utilize the Internet in dramatically different way to market InternetBay and our members as well as to recruit more members through the net.

- Develop and carry out more activities which support companies who want their export business to grow.

- Establish the InternetBay organization and cooperate with other ICT branch actors in several places in Sweden, in Europe and in long term other places in the world, in order to offer our members a larger market, recruit more members and give more resources and to build our brand.

- Develop and produce activities which bring our members more know how about marketing and sales as well as more networking activities.

- Develop and strengthen our internal organisation and resources in order to be able to do all activities described in this strategy. 

Member view

From member point of view the most important benefit the organization InternetBay could bring is to identify more and new business opportunities or even do new business for members.  The second most important is to identify and lead our member-companies to new markets. The third most important is to inspire and help them to build and increase their competence and skills about marketing, sales and business development and their willingness to grow.The strategy for InternetBay points out strategic actions to fulfill these demands from our members in several ways. The most important is to strengthen the organizations ability to produce services which identify new business opportunities, such as InternetBay Business Event and other similar services, but also to identify new markets by working internationally as well as nationally.

External view

With external point of view we mean stakeholders in the society (towns, councils etc), authorities and state government owned national support organizations and also industries which are customers to our ICT companies as well as ICT companies who are not members. For these groups we want to be known as an organisation that brings a lot of value to the society as whole and especially to the areas where we are active. We want to be known as an organization that is strongly business oriented and gives benefit to the society through the ICT industry in terms of long term growth for them. The strategy contains some important strategic actions which addresses these issues. We want to be known as a trustful, forward looking, business- and action oriented organisation.

InternetBay internal view

The strategy is very ambitious and our vision demands that. Therefore we need to strengthen the organization in several ways. It’s not only about money, personnel, and competence, which is necessary, it’s also about how to work on a national level as well as on international level and be present there. It’s about how to strengthen our brand and be able to produce our services in many places and more efficiently than we can do today. We need to develop our competence and know how in different areas as well as the volume and diversity of the resources. We shall continue to build our organization and products on our core values and beliefs in concrete action oriented activities to identify new business opportunities. InternetBay should get the position as an authority regarding ICT marketing and sales and by that became a natural lobbying organization on national and European level.
