SL improves information on service disruption
After the severe winter chaos, Stockholm Lokaltrafik will significantly improve information for travelers. The information will be made available as messages to travelers’ mobile phones and computers.
InTime is developing a Web service in which passengers may subscribe to a selection of disturbance information. The web service is shown as a layer on sl.se and as a standalone web page, opened by a link from sl.se. Selection is made on the means of traffic monitoring as desired; commuter train, metro, local track or bus. Information sent through the service is based on “SL-traffic right now.”
Messages of notices should initially be done via email and RSS service and preparation is made for other channels such as SMS, Facebook, Twitter and instant messaging. From the middle of July, a testing service is operational and after a trial period the service will be implemented permanently.
Elias Arnestrand, SL’s business manager for the traffic channel, justifying the choice of supplier: “InTime has a very competitive price and for the mission appropriate competence profile. They specialize in subscription services and SMS services and have previously supplied a traffic information service for road users on the Southern Link to City of Stockholm and also runs a nationwide service subscription to service disruption.”
